Gary Kubiak admitted he couldn't replace his best receiver, and now it's just a matter of how long he'll be out. [Kubiak] said [Monday] that receiver Andre Johnson is going to get a second opinion on his hamstring injury, and they are still in the evaluation process and will be until doctors chart a course for his recovery. "We're still in the evaluation process," Kubiak said. ... "Obviously, it's a big concern going forward. We have to do what's best for Andre. He's going to miss some time. Right now, I don't know if that's three or four days or a few weeks." Kubiak said he doesn't know at this point whether the hamstring is strained or torn and won't know for a couple of days. "We know that he has an important contract and the cost for the insurance is very high. But never say never" said Virtus Roma GM, Antonello Riva. (Sportando) Comment
Though the Monday night strike zone provided some cover, CC Sabathia's offseason, depending on when it begins, bears watching. It would be foolish to suggest [Sabathia], who was outpitched by Justin Verlander in the biggest game of the Yankees' season, was pitching for his opt-out clause Monday night. Win or lose, weight gain or not, opting out was always going to happen. Come November, Sabathia is going to want more and then the Yankees are going to be faced with the $120 million question: Are we really prepared to saddle ourselves with another A-Rod contract? If nothing else, Sabathia's performance Monday night ... has to at least have given the Yankee brass pause for thought when it comes to extending the big guy for more years and a lot more money.
